Hrmm… one of these just screams “Poz”…

The Caliber? 190 horsepower… new style transmission, TONS of room in the back and a can-cooler built into the dash (now if that isn’t the epitomy of ‘redneck’, I don’t know what is). I could pick up a base model for $16,000 or a very well equipped model for $19,000

Or perhaps something more along the lines of this… bright pink, lowered, fast AND pleasant to look at (for the most part). Price after additions: roughly $30,000

Maybe something like this – one of my students from Japan drove one of these – the Honda Fit. It just came out a month or two ago, but it’s been out in Japan for a few years now. Isn’t that how it always goes? Price: $19,500

Or perhaps something more along the lines of the super economy car… the SMART Car. Incredibly teeny, not very good for road trips but killer when it comes to gasoline. The engine is in the trunk, plus if I get sick of the color of the panels, for a total of $600 + tax, I can change the panels. Pretty slick… but still a world of pain when it comes to the price at $44,000.

Off I went to our farm in mid-springtime. Upon arriving out there, I realize that it has completely changed, yet almost stayed the same as well since I was a child. The grass is still finely trimmed down thanks to the horses that are still kept, yet some of the buildings have become more and more delapitated.

I look at this truck which I used to play on as a child.. back then it seemed so incredibly huge. I needed a friend or two just to help me get into the back… now I can scale it in two jumps.

As you can see, the old gas tanks are still there – even on their last legs they still contain some ‘purple’ farm-gasoline which I’m sure rarely see’s farm machinery these days. Some things never change, I’m sure. The red garage you can see on the left-hand side is where I used to play hide & seek when I was 10 – and also where I damn-near blinded myself with a blow-torch!

Back inside of the farm-house, I realized how little can change. The inside has looks the EXACT same for as long as I can remember. When I was 5 years old, I used to sleep on the couch… heck, the coffee-table is older than me!

Very little has been removed to this room throughout the years, but much has been added.

Back outside it appears like we still have a few little glaciers that need melting. When I was walking by, I couldn’t help but take a quick jump in the middle of a puddle, with small hopes of hearing my mother or aunt give me hell from across the farm-yard about getting my new shoes wet.

This is one of the dozen or so farm-cats that still live on the farm. They must be well into their 40th generation by now. One cat still strikes a chord in my heart though, ‘Momma’. She was a slender grey cat that, unlike her kittens, she was one of the only cats -EVER- to come from the farm that was kind and trusting of humans. Sadly, the bastard Nick Bold who lived West of our farm shot her while she was walking along the road-side.

This is not exactly what you want to see when opening up what you -THOUGHT- was the oil-pan.

Hrmm… $1.045 for one liter of gasoline…. this was taken 3 weeks ago. NOW gasoline is $1.195… WHAT THE HELL IS OPEC DOING?!?!?!

Sorry for not posting an update for a while, I haven’t really had any good reason to do anything big of interesting so I figured it’s about time to do something and/or interesting for you folks so here’s a few updates in a row!

First of all, I must warn you… if you enjoy using your computer but don’t want to be addicted to the keyboard, then you should NEVER play Civilization III. Heck, that or ANY of the Civilization series. I remember my friend Jeff Sutherland first got my interested in the darn game WAY back when Civ 1 was released… now they’re up to part 4 and I’m still working on destroying entire countries in part III! HELP ME!

Yea, this isn’t something you want to see right before you go to bed…

As some of you know, I presently work retail. There are some products which are absolutely amazing… take the new Panasonic Z1 digital camera. It’s phenomenal! However, there are also some products which are crap, the whole crap and nothing but the crap. One of these items is the ‘Shure’ series of ear-bud headphones. The prices on these suckers range from $99 for the basic set alllll the way up to $350! Yes, THREE-HUNDED AND FIFTY DOLLARS!!! I had the chance to test them out and y’know what…? My 6000-yen Technosonic headset kicks the crap out of these over-priced wastes of plastic.

The other day I had the chance to give my brother a hand with his new(er) house. This ‘help’ was more of a ‘grab-and-toss’ of all the junk that he had accumulated throughout the last few weeks of renovating the house. This task brought us out to the other side of the city to the garbage dump. Not overly incredible, but since I had not been at the dump in years, I thought I’d take a snap & share it with you. Now you critics can truely say “Pozland is filled with garbage!”

Oh, and if you see a guy driving around Saskatchewan in this thing, wave.

Yea, the Evel Knievel Scramble Van – what can I say, my brother’s a big of a ‘tard sometimes.

One final thought… if you’ve never tried the egg-yolk liqueure ‘Advocat’ (made by BOLS) then damnit, go out and get some!

So what do you do when your car is slowly dieing?

Get something else!

Hurrah! Low kilometers, power everything, quite fun to drive. It does one heck of a good job and is easy on gasoline to boot. Needless to say, I’m quite happy with that purchase.
