Suntory C.C. Lemon
Have you ever taken a sniff of some kind of super-lemon-cleaning-bleach-soap and it made your saliva glands literally shoot out the saliva? Well C.C. Lemon has one of those kinds of smell.
Before taking a sip, I prepare myself for tasting the most sour thing in my entire life, but upon taking a gulp (and basically finishing off about 1/3 of the teeeeeny can), I am pleased to find that it’s not as sour as I was expecting, in fact it is somewhat bitter. The after-taste is similar to a lemon-drop candy, and the drink isn’t all that unpleasant.
Apparently this is the best drink in the world if you want to stave off scurvy. In this little 100mL can, you get 440mg of Vitamin C, equal to 22 lemons. In fact, the drinks logo is “22 lemons’ worth of Vitamin C in every can.” followed up by a bunch of Japanese that I can’t read for various reasons… namely it’s kanji.
Would I drink it again? Hrmm… that’s a very good question. I can’t say no, but I certainly can’t say yes. I guess the fact that I have two more cans of this in my fridge will answer that question for me. I’m sure if I ever get stiff joints, breath that smells like a mule’s ass and whatever else scurvy does, then at least I know I’ll be safe for another day!
